Northwest Chinas First Zero-carbon Intelligent Service Area Officially Put into Operation
Source: Date:2026年05月06日

On May 1, the quality upgrading project of Mei County Service Area in Shaanxi Province constructed by China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group was officially put into operation. Located on the Lianyungang-Khorgas Expressway, the service area covers a total construction area of 9,816.42 square meters and is the first zero-carbon intelligent service area in Northwest China. The construction scope includes site hardening, comprehensive service building construction, zero-carbon facility installation and greening projects.

During construction, normal traffic on the expressway must be guaranteed. The project involves multiple professional construction contents with frequent cross operations, bringing great challenges to construction organization. The project team reasonably divided construction areas, material stacking areas and traffic diversion passages, compiled special construction and traffic evacuation plans, optimized construction drawings with design institutes and arranged technical disclosure work to ensure orderly construction progress.

In civil engineering construction, the team strictly abided by construction specifications in building demolition and reconstruction work, and implemented three-level quality inspection to control core construction indicators. Low-energy building technologies were adopted in the new comprehensive service building, with high-performance wall structures, external wall thermal insulation, triple-layer hollow energy-saving glass windows and fresh air heat recovery systems installed in sequence. Meanwhile, site reconstruction was carried out to expand service space and improve operational efficiency.

The installation of zero-carbon energy system is the core technical focus of the project. Professional construction teams laid photovoltaic modules on building roofs and idle spaces, completed circuit connection and grid connection commissioning, finished hoisting and debugging of energy storage systems and installed wind power generation equipment to form an integrated wind-solar-energy storage system. A comprehensive energy and carbon management platform was deployed to ensure the stable operation of the multi-energy complementary system.

In terms of ecological recycling supporting facilities, the sewage treatment system and buried garbage compression stations were completed and commissioned on schedule in strict accordance with relevant standards. High-carbon sequestration plants were planted in layers in greening projects. Full-time safety protection and on-site inspection were implemented during construction. Multi-point synchronous operation, schedule node management and closed-loop management were adopted to guarantee construction progress, safety and quality.

The Mei County Service Area upgrading project deeply integrates wind-solar-energy storage multi-energy complementary technology with service area reconstruction, promoting the green and intelligent transformation of transportation infrastructure. It sets a benchmark for green traffic services on Lianyungang-Khorgas Expressway and provides valuable practical experience for the green and low-carbon upgrading of regional expressway service areas.
